The Birth of Dragons
According to Korean legend, when a serpent grows old and wise, it retreats to rivers or caves for a thousand years. When its time comes, it turns white and waits for a cloudy day—the day it will rise to the heavens and transform into a dragon.

My client’s tattoo is inspired by a family story passed down through generations:
When their grandmother was a child in pre–North Korea, she once crossed a bridge with her own grandmother. Suddenly, people around them began pointing upward—and in the sky, they saw dozens of pale, slithering lines ascending higher and higher until they disappeared into the clouds. That was the day she said she witnessed dragons being born. She swore it was real until the end of her life.
Now, the story lives on—not only in words, but ink.
The Korean dragon is also a symbol of protection; it is believed the Korean dragon protects humans and wards off evil spirits.
