Butterfly, Bird of Paradise & Freesia
Butterfly, Bird of Paradise & Freesia
I did E's first tattoo (portrait with roses), and she decided to come back for her second one. Feel so thankful to be trusted that much!
She wanted to get two of her favorite flowers — Freesia and Bird of Paradise. They have a personal meaning behind them. And I looove doing botanical tattoos :)
The initial sketch included a leaf of the Bird of Paradise. E. wasn't a fan of it, so I proposed a butterfly. Not just any butterfly, but a Mission Blue.
The Symbolism of Butterfly Tattoos.
It's called that because it was first collected in the Mission District of San Francisco in 1937. Its habitat is restricted to the San Francisco Bay Area. So this butterfly is a perfect choice to commemorate E's time in San Francisco.
